qEEG (Brain Mapping) Services at Mindful Restoration
Quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG), commonly known as brain mapping, is a powerful and non-invasive assessment tool used to understand your brain’s activity and functioning. By analyzing brain wave patterns, qEEG helps identify areas of dysregulation that may be contributing to challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, sleep disturbances, or cognitive performance issues. This process provides a clear, data-driven roadmap for targeted interventions like neurofeedback and other therapeutic approaches.
What Does the Brain Mapping Process Look Like?
- Initial Review:
Before the session begins, the clinician and client review intake information to better understand the client’s needs, concerns, and goals. This step ensures the qEEG assessment is tailored to provide relevant insights. - Preparation for the Session:
The client rests comfortably in a slightly reclined position. The clinician places a specially designed cap on the client’s head, which is equipped with sensors to detect and measure electrical brain wave activity. The cap is adjusted to ensure accurate, high-quality recordings. - Recording Brain Activity:
Brain wave activity is recorded over a 20–30 minute session. During this time, the client will be asked to relax with eyes open and closed at different intervals. In some cases, simple tasks may be performed to observe how the brain responds to various challenges. The entire process is painless and non-invasive. - Post-Session Clean-Up:
After the recording is complete, the clinician removes the cap and gently cleans the area to ensure the client’s comfort. - Report Generation:
The recorded data is sent for analysis, where advanced algorithms compare the client’s brain wave activity to a normative database. This step identifies patterns of imbalance and provides detailed insights into how the brain is functioning. A comprehensive report is prepared, typically within 2–3 weeks, once payment for the service is completed in full. - Review and Neurotraining:
Once the report is ready, the clinician meets with the client to review the findings in detail. The report highlights areas of strength and areas needing improvement. If appropriate, a personalized neurofeedback training protocol is developed based on the recommendations. This neurotraining helps guide the brain toward healthier patterns of activity, addressing specific concerns identified during the qEEG assessment.
Why Choose qEEG?
- Targeted Insights: Gain a deeper understanding of how your brain is functioning and what may be contributing to specific challenges.
- Personalized Care: The results inform customized treatment plans designed to meet your unique needs.
- Measurable Progress: qEEG allows for objective tracking of improvements over time, ensuring the effectiveness of interventions.
At Mindful Restoration, we are committed to using cutting-edge tools like qEEG to empower clients with knowledge about their brains and support their journey to optimal mental health and performance.
